Workshop
Productivity and Burnout
This workshop tackles sustainable performance and burnout prevention by reframing productivity as an energy problem, not a time problem. Participants start with a personal Time Audit, then work through Cal Newport's Slow Productivity principles, the TCLD framework for auditing which work is Theatre, Commodifying, On the Line, or Durable in an era of AI-driven change, and a Time Architecture model that treats Deep Work, Meetings, Admin/Reactive tasks, and Recovery like the load-bearing structure of a workday. It also builds boundary-setting skills through the Acknowledge-Reframe-Offer framework and a Personal SLA, and addresses remote-work perception dynamics using the Spotlight Effect, Transparency Illusion, and Adam Grant's Giver/Taker/Matcher framework — drawing on a remote/hybrid scenario at Signature Travel Network that generalizes to any distributed team. Teams can also apply a Start/Stop/Continue exercise to turn individual insights into collaborative process change. Across modules, participants practice through self-audits, scripted role-plays with peer pushback, and stress-testing exercises, culminating in a personalized 30-Day Personal Operating Plan.

Start Stop Continue
3 exercises · ~70 minThis module gives teams a structured way to reflect on how they collaborate and to walk away with concrete process improvements. Using the Start/Stop/Continue framework, participants individually generate ideas about what the team should stop doing, start doing, and keep doing???covering workflows, processes, outputs, and high-value versus pseudo-productive work???then share and cluster those ideas on a shared board to surface common themes. Participants practice this through pre-work reflection, a short framing discussion on ground rules for giving feedback (examples not names, curiosity before judgment, step up/step back), and a live individual-then-group exercise using a shared Miro board.

Pre-Work
1 exercise · ~15 minThis pre-work module has participants complete a Time Audit Tracker before attending the Productivity and Burnout workshop. Over one typical work week, participants log what they're doing hour by hour (8am???5pm, Monday through Friday) and categorize each hour as Deep Work, Meetings, Reactive/Admin, or Recovery. A summary section then totals hours per category and prompts three reflection questions: how sustainable their current workload feels (rated 1???10), the top three things draining their energy, and a boundary they need to set but haven't.

Slow Productivity
2 exercises · ~40 minThis module introduces Cal Newport's concept of Slow Productivity as a counter to "pseudo-productivity" ??? the tendency to mistake visible busyness for real accomplishment. Participants discuss where pseudo-productivity shows up in their own work and examine tasks that look productive but don't move the needle. They then apply Newport's three principles ??? do fewer things, work at a natural pace, and obsess over quality ??? to their own role, and close by writing a personal commitment card naming one thing they'll stop doing or reprioritize this week, along with who they'll tell to hold themselves accountable.

Opening & Framing
4 exercises · ~18 minThis opening module frames a workshop on sustainable performance and burnout prevention. Participants start by reflecting with a partner on their current pace, energy drains, and boundary needs, then examine research showing that burnout stems from fragmented, digitally dense rhythms rather than long hours. The module introduces the workshop's core framework, a Personal Operating System built on two pillars: Time Architecture (designing your week around deep work, batched meetings, and peak energy) and Boundary Commitments (saying no strategically and protecting your time blocks). It closes by previewing the outcomes participants will build toward: a workload audit, boundary-setting scripts, and a 30-day personal operating plan.

The Capacity Audit: Time Architecture
6 exercises · ~46 minThis module reframes time management around energy rather than hours, using an architectural metaphor to structure the workday: Deep Work as load-bearing walls, Meetings as rooms, Admin/Reactive tasks as plumbing, and Recovery as ventilation. Participants map their own energy drains and sources from a pre-work Time Audit, identify pseudo-productive activities worth stopping, delegating, or reducing, and then time-block an ideal week with concrete rules for protecting deep work, batching meetings, and building in recovery buffers.

Module 3: The Visibility Paradox
10 exercises · ~90 minThis module examines how remote workers misjudge the way colleagues perceive them, and gives them tools to manage that perception deliberately instead of anxiously. It draws on Thomas Gilovich's Spotlight Effect and Heidi Grant Halvorson's Transparency Illusion to show that people notice you less than you fear, and read your effort and intentions far less than you assume. It also applies Tessa West's research on workplace anxiety and Adam Grant's Give and Take framework (Givers, Takers, Matchers, and the "otherish" giving pattern) to explain why well-intentioned behaviors can backfire in digital channels. Participants practice through a personal spotlight audit of their own worries, an analysis of their own giving patterns, and a role-played "calibration conversation" where a partner stands in for a real boss or colleague to test whether a specific worry holds up. This is Module 3 of the Personal Operating System series, built around remote/hybrid work at Signature Travel Network; the underlying diagnostic and the three-signal model of Capacity, Commitment, and Care generalize to any remote or hybrid team managing how their work is perceived.

Boundary Scripts & Protection Strategies
5 exercises · ~35 minThis module teaches participants how to set and hold workplace boundaries, especially under the conditions of remote work that erode physical/temporal, emotional, and mental boundaries alike. Participants learn the Acknowledge, Reframe, Offer framework for delivering a "strategic no" that validates the requester while protecting commitments, then write a script for their own toughest boundary scenario (such as after-hours messages, scope creep, or recurring meetings that don't need them) and rehearse it in a partnered role-play with realistic pushback and structured feedback. The module closes with drafting a Personal SLA (Service Level Agreement) ??? response windows, deep work blocks, and an escalation path ??? to proactively communicate their operating rhythm to their team.

30-Day Personal Operating Plan
2 exercises · ~15 minThis module is where participants finalize and pressure-test their 30-Day Personal Operating Plan, the primary takeaway of the Productivity and Burnout deliverable. Working from a plan already started in earlier modules, participants complete three sections ??? Time Architecture (time-blocked week, stop/delegate list, time rules), Boundary Commitments (boundary scripts, a Personal SLA, stakeholders to inform), and Accountability (accountability partner, Day 15 and Day 30 check-ins, a success metric) ??? then pair up to stress-test the plan for realism, likely failure points, and gaps.

Career Audit: Individual TCLD Diagnostic
11 exercises · ~120 minThis module gives participants a concrete method for auditing how they spend their work time in an era of AI-driven change. Built around the TCLD framework (Theatre, Commodifying, On the Line, Durable), drawn from Nate Jones's "55-75% of your week is on thin ice," participants bring a pre-built inventory of their last five business days of work and tag each item into one of the four categories, then stress-test their tags with peers who push back on undercounting Theatre and overcounting Durable work. The session closes with two forward-looking practices: a five-minute Friday ritual for logging judgment calls that build a durable portfolio over time, and a self-addressed 30-day email committing to specific changes based on the audit.
